Watch Dog

Dude. There is nothing out there. I don't know what you think you're whining at for three hours a day, but there is nothing out there.

No. No, there's nothing out here either. In the interest of science I spent a lot of time staring out the window with Monsoon over this past week, and I am positive. There's nothing out there.

That doesn't stop him, though. He bounces and whines and chatters. When I take him outside, he explores the yard thoroughly and then looks up at me as if to say, "Huh. I was pretty sure I saw something out here! Did you hide it, Mom?"

So: my apologies for another unannounced month-long hiatus. If I ever knew they were coming I'd try to issue a warning, but that's not how it works. How it usually works is I pull my head out from under a pillow and realize I haven't spoken to anyone, updated a blog, taken a picture or completed a project in a month and that I should probably rejoin society. Here I am, for however long it lasts this time! ;)

  4. Welcome back! :) I bet Monsoon's pictures don't do him half the justice he deserves. He is such a stunning boy.

Our dogs also do that stare out the window and bark to nothing all day long. Sometimes I think they are trying warding off all the negativity out there that wants to weight me down. :)

  5. Welcome back!

Love the 'watchdog' pictures! I think they just love to watch any movement, whatever it is - leaves, paper blowing in the wind, people, birds ... and perhaps they have a colourful imagination!!

  6. There are times that Elka absolutely insists that SOMEBODY is here or SOMETHING is outside. She's also rather insistent when she's divined that we've ordered food (mostly because, once I discovered that if I say "Elka, we're getting pizza!") she goes and looks at the door, and then whines, and then looks at us.

  10. Pearl and Monsoon sound so alike- she stations herself at the window all day to guard the house from such fearsome threats as passing cars, bunnies, and gusts of wind.
